Recently, a delegation from Tatneft company, Altemyevsk State Petroleum Institute, Tatneft Corporate University and PricewaterhouseCoopers company (PwC) visited Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS). The visit aimed at learning BHOS activities, achievements and successes in training high-qualified engineers. It is expected that BHOS experience will help to establish a leading oil university in Russia based on Altemyevsk State Petroleum Institute. After the visit, the guests shared their impressions about BHOS.
Rustam Mukhamadeyev, Deputy Director General on Human Resources and Social Development, Tatneft company:
“Baku Higher Oil School is one of the most leading higher educational institutions among universities in the former Soviet Republics. Within five years, the management of BHOS achieved impressive results. They have managed to build a professional team of teachers and staff members, develop successful cooperation with Heriot-Watt University and many international universities and companies, attract the most talented prospective students, and construct new comfortable campus with modern infrastructure. Your first graduates who left the Higher School earlier this month already received job offers from large transnational companies. BHOS graduates have good English language skills and can easily compete with specialists in Europe and America. We at Tatneft company intend to adopt the best practices used by BHOS and transform the Altemyevsk State Petroleum Institute into one of the best higher educational institutions in Russia. Think we will achieve this ambitious goal, and Tatneft is ready to provide all necessary support to the new institute, following example of successful cooperation between SOCAR company and BHOS.”
Robert Nurgaliyev, Acting Rector of Almetyevsk State Oil Institute, Tatarstan:
“President of the Republic of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov set an ambitious goal for us to transform our institute into one a leading English-language higher educational institution in Russia for oil and gas industry. Altemyevsk State Petroleum Institute was established in the early 1960s. For more than 50 years the institute provides high-quality education and prepares specialists for Tatneft and other oil and gas companies of the region. Currently, we intend to turn it into a leading institute, which can successfully compete with the best European technical universities. For this purpose, our team currently works with Tatneft managers, experts from Ministry of Education and consultants from PwC company on the development strategy of the institute. In this regard, the Baku Higher Oil School experience can be very useful for us. We know that BHOS admits only those prospective students who earn high score at the entrance exams. The Higher School students receive scholarship, they have opportunities to undertake internship at local and international companies, and after graduation they can easily find jobs at the best oil and gas companies both in Azerbaijan and abroad. We would like to learn more about this valuable experience to make our institute the best one in Tatarstan.”
