BHOS hosts Scientific Conference on ‘Integration of Petroleum Engineering into Energy Systems’

Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) hosted the opening of the 7th International Scientific Conference of Students and Young Researchers on “Integration of Petroleum Engineering into Energy Systems” dedicated to the 103rd anniversary of National Leader Heydar Aliyev.

Speaking at the event, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov noted that “scientific conferences, which have already become a tradition at Baku Higher Oil School, are of great importance in terms of unlocking students and young researchers’ potential and their integration into the international scientific community.”

Head of the Petroleum Engineering Department of Baku Higher Oil School Samira Musayeva said that a total of 129 applications were submitted for the conference, 31 of which came from universities in Turkey, Uzbekistan, the UK, Italy, Kazakhstan, and Saudi Arabia. “Students and young researchers from Baku Higher Oil School are participating in the conference with 53 theses.”

In his remarks, Rector of the Azerbaijan State Oil and Industry University (ASOIU) Rufat Azizov emphasized that scientific conferences held at BHOS have become an important platform for young researchers. “The discussions held and the scientific research presented here will make an important contribution to solving the industry's challenges in the future.”

Speaking at the event, Nazim Valiyev, Head of SOCAR's Science, Technology and Nanotechnology Department; Anar Aliyev, President of Bahar Energy Operating Company; Rafig Ahmadov, Manager for Turbine-Compressor Operations and bp Projects at Glensol Company; Shalala Huseynova, Deputy Vice President of SOCAR; Nadirbay Naghibayli, a Regional Operations Manager at NOV Rig Technologies Rahima Abbasova, a 2023 graduate of Petroleum Engineering specialty of BHOS, currently working as an engineer at bp; noted that the scientific conference will pave the way for new approaches in the field of petroleum engineering.

After the speeches, Adalat Humbatov, a 5th-year student at Baku Higher Oil School, gave a presentation on the topic of his research.

Following the opening ceremony, the participants viewed poster presentations.

The conference is continuing its work in the sections "Geological Research and Modeling of Underground Resources", "Development of Drilling, Extraction and Production Technologies", and "Energy Transition, Economics and Sustainable Development".
