Baku Higher Oil School hosts Innovation Festival
The Innovation Festival was held at Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS).
Speaking at the festival's opening ceremony, BHOS Rector Elmar Gasimov emphasized that Baku Higher Oil School is not only a higher education institution where the highest-scoring young people study, but also a hackathon university, an educational institution represented by the largest number of startup projects. The Rector noted that in 2025 alone, BHOS students won 13 hackathons, and about 25 startup projects passed the acceleration stage. Elmar Gasimov also noted that BHOS successfully participates in the annual Teknofest competition held in Turkey, and that the university is represented by the largest number of teams at this competition. He emphasized that BHOS have created all the conditions for students to realize their ideas.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports Farhad Hajiyev emphasized that since the founding of BHOS, effective cooperation has been established between the university and the ministry, and numerous successful joint projects have been implemented.
In his remaks, the member of Milli Majlis, Tahir Mirkishily, emphasized that competition in the modern era is based on knowledge and technology and that BHOS plays a vital role in building the capacity of highly qualified professionals in the field of innovation.
Speaking at the ceremony, Chairman of the Board of the Agency for Quality Assurance in Education Tural Ahmadov noted that BHOS ranks among the nation’s leading higher education institutions for its student-centered approach to education and strong emphasis on practical application of knowledge.
This was followed by the screening of a presentation video titled “Achievements of BHOS Students in 2025.”
Head of the Innovation Center of Baku Higher Oil School Emilia Ahmadova stated that last year over 400 students achieved success in the field of innovation, receiving cash awards totaling 81,500 manats, and that the total investment attracted by student start-up projects amounted to 171,700 manats.
Within the festival, three award-winning projects of BHOS students — Climasel, Luminex, and GreenStone — were presented.
Then Certificates of Appreciation were presented to students who achieved successful results in various competitions in 2025.
The event concluded with a musical performance.
